Quicktime 7.1.3 “No Audio” - Fix

So a few days ago I installed iTunes with Quicktime 7.1.3.  When I played a video podcast, or a video I purchased through iTunes, I could see the video in perfect quality, but there was no audio.  I kept trying to troubleshoot iTunes with no success.  Then this morning, I tried to play a quicktime video in the FireFox web browser and could still not hear any audio.  Ah ha!  Quicktime is the culprit.  Here is the fix that worked for me.

1.  Go to the Control Panel
WinXP - Start > Control Panel
Win2K - Start > Settings > Control Panel

2.  Double Click on QuickTime
3.  You will see this screen open.

4.  Click on the “Audio” Tab
5.  Uncheck “Safe mode (waveOut only)
6.  Change the Sound Out options to look like this
Rate:  96Khz
Size:  24 bit
Channels:  Stereo(L R) (this option depends on your speaker set up)

7.  Click the “Apply” button

8.  Open iTunes or Quicktime, and enjoy your audio!!
